As the winter arrives, the sun reaches its southernmost position in relation to our planet. On the day of summer solstice, there is no zenith moving north or south. Instead, the Sun stands still right at the tropic of cancer.
The longest day of the year date may differ. It anytime between 20th to 23rd June. Since past few years it falls on 21st of June. The next 22nd of June summer solstice will happen in 2203. For southern hemisphere, the longest day of the year is 21st of 22nd December when the Sun reaches and stands still at the tropic of Capricorn.
